Sunday Fun-Day at the Zoo

Dear Derek, Rylie, and "Dragon Slayer",

Today, like we do on many weekends, we all went to the zoo. Before we left, daddy asked Derek what animals he wanted to see. So, as requested, we went to see the turtles, tigers, and elephants. We stopped for lunch first, as per our usual zoo routine. You both wanted the chicken nuggets and loved telling us about the different animal shapes you could identify. Derek enjoyed biting off all the chicken nugget animal heads-SO MANY GIGGLES! Rylie, you ate a whole piece of chicken right away, so you could finally have your chips. You both got your own souvenir zoo cups today and were SO HAPPY! You finally have your own cups and don't have to share with Mommy and Daddy any more. We are excited about it too ;) ... It was a fun day, but we will have to go again! Derek had wanted to see the zebras too, but we were already heading home, due to the heat. Dragon Slayer, you were there too! We think you enjoyed getting to hear your brother and sister talk about the animals. You definitely enjoyed all of our "breaks" in the air conditioned areas. That's when you really started to dance around! We know you will love the zoo too! Here are a few of our traditional "animal pictures".

Derek, you really loved this tiger today! You wanted to "hold on to his ears" during the pictures.

Rylie, you weren't as excited about these pictures. You just wanted to wander around at your own pace. You are so independent!

*******************

Derek, you laughed and laughed about getting under the gorilla! You always find a way to make all of us smile!

*******************

Rylie, it took us FOREVER to get you to stand UNDER the gorilla. You just wanted to run in a circle underneath and then in front of it, over and over, around and around. A very sweet lady helped me get you to stay there just long enough to snap ONE picture. You have so much energy and always  keep us on our toes! You are so much fun!

*******************

We hope you always find the joy in the little things, like you did today. You bring so much joy to our lives!

XOXO,
Mommy and Daddy
